About us
Real engineers. Real fixes. No scripts.
IT Advise is an independent UK IT support service. Every answer, guide and remote session comes from senior Microsoft-certified engineers with more than twenty years of hands-on experience fixing the problems that actually land on people's desks.
Why we exist
Most computer help online falls into two camps: forums where you're told to reinstall Windows for everything, and support companies that read from a script and upsell you an antivirus you don't need. We started IT Advise because there was room for something better — the same advice a good engineer gives a mate, written down properly and available to anyone in the UK.
Everything on this site is written by working engineers. The fixes in our knowledge base are the ones we actually use on paid jobs, in the order we try them, with the dead ends marked.
We fix, we don't sell
No antivirus bundles, no subscriptions you didn't ask for. If a free tool does the job, we say so.
Secure by default
Remote sessions use one-time, encrypted connections. You watch everything we do, and access ends when the session ends.
UK-wide, remote-first
Wherever you are in the UK, an engineer can usually be looking at your machine within the hour.
How we work
- Fixed prices, agreed first. You know the cost before we connect. If we can't fix it, we tell you straight and you don't pay for a fix that didn't happen.
- Plain English. We'll tell you what's wrong and what we did about it without the jargon. If you want the technical detail, ask — we enjoy that part.
- Honest limits. Some jobs need hands on the hardware. When remote isn't the right tool, we'll say so and point you at the sensible next step.
